New video and single - BALLOON

Florida's A NEW WAY TO LIVE FOREVER are ready to soar as they release Balloon, their new single and video just ahead of confirmed performances at this year's SXSW conference.

Balloon, a rock-synth tale of enduring inspiration, is from A NEW WAY TO LIVE FOREVER’s (ANWTLF) latest 2012 EP, Rumoura, released by Civil Defense Music out of Los Angeles. Balloon is the follow up to the well received debut single, "'Til My Heart Stops Beating" and the video was entirely crafted using various applications on an iPad. Balloon finds the band in a dream-like setting and solely depicted in caricature form. The video reveal will take place Saturday, February 2nd at West Palm Beach’s Longboards on Clematis Street, and will be followed with a live set by the band.

Vocalist/songwriter, Russ Rogers remarks, "About 6 months ago Daniel (dyer - keyboards) described to me a dream he had and we agreed it would make a killer video for Balloon. He's been diligently piecing it together in the iPad ever since. It’s spooky, yet positive and really speaks to the soul of the song"

Right on the heels of the new single comes a series of shows at this years SXSW conference in Austin, TX. ANWTLF was invited as part of a promotional venture sponsored by Florida based, YAP-AT, a location based social app that enables users to serendipitously discover the world around them, and social media management platform POINTBURST. Band performances will span the first 3 days of the opening interactive portion of the conference (Mar 8-10), so attendees will have multiple opportunities to catch them live.

AND, for those paying attention, Russ and Daniel's dark electro project DRTY LVRS will also be performing at SXSW, and capturing video footage for their latest single "Fancy Restaurant". Cartoon-inspired DRTY LVRS last year enjoyed performances at BOOM CON in Costa Rica.

ANWTLF throws their "heart" into new video and single

Post-modern, grunge-induced phenomenon, A New Way to Live Forever (ANWTLF), boasts a mission to bring "songs" back to rock music, and their new video is living proof.

'Til My Heart Stops Beating, the first single and video from their sophomore EP "Rumoura", well defines the emerging ANWTLF as soulful grit and groove powerhouse, and sets the stage for big things to come. Check out the video below…

Vocalist/songwriter, Russ Rogers states, "Rock music has all but disappeared from radio where we live in South Florida. Part of it is likely the overwhelming prevalence of dance culture down here, but I can't help notice a lack of new great rock songs coming out anywhere in general - ones that could cross the radio dial as well as transcend decades. I'm not saying that our music is the missing link, but I'm relentlessly focused on writing timeless songs that stick in people's heads."

ANWTLF's unlikely rise from the land of sunshine has been fueled by a distinct song-focused style ranging from Kings Of Leon at their catchiest, to Nirvana at their dirtiest. Hooks, drive, and emotion bleed from every tune.

[Rumoura] recalls the work of early ’90s rock acts from the grunge era, starting with the fine opener, ['Til Your Heart Stops Beating and] ending on a high note with “Monkey in the Middle.” Which is not to say that the EP has any true clunkers, but the opener and closer are definitely the stand-out tracks.

[Rumoura] has roots in a sort of ‘92 Seattle grunge, but a lot cleaner, and certainly more fun.

Local Album of the Week: “Rumoura” by A New Way to Live Forever

Local Album of the Week: “Rumoura” by A New Way to Live Forever

(original article)

A couple of years ago, singer/guitarist Russ Rogers could’ve referred to A New Way to Live Forever as “my once and future band.” He co-founded the group with guitarist Todd Evans back in 2008, but it went on hiatus almost immediately as Rogers dedicated more time to the now-defunct sleaze-rock act Kill Miss Pretty. Once KMP imploded among personal issues, Rogers suddenly found himself bandless — and A New Way to Live Forever got a new lease on life. The new incarnation of the act features Rogers, guitarist James Coyle, drummer Phil Tucciarone, bassist Steve Valez, and keyboardist Daniel Dyer, with occasional contributions by Evans. The group has played out intermittently since last year and has now released the five-song EP Rumoura.
Any comparisons between this and Rogers’ old band are misplaced at best. KMP survived and thrived more on showmanship than skill, though it was very good at what it did. Here, Rogers leads a band that relies more on musicianship, and it pays off with a tight group of songs. Despite the presence of keys, this is a guitar-heavy set, which becomes evident from the opening notes of “Til My Heart Stops Beating,” the first track on the EP. The reliance on distorted chord work more than solos recalls the work of early ’90s rock acts from the grunge era, especially the more-rock-less-punk side of the scene, more Pearl Jam than Nirvana.
The disc almost goes in waves, starting with the fine opener, going to the less-memorable “Balloon,” then on to the excellent “Dance Around,” back to a just-OK track with “Half Past December,” and finally ending back on a high note with “Monkey in the Middle.” Which is not to say that the EP has any true clunkers, but the opener and closer are definitely the stand-out tracks.
Overall, Rumoura represents a sharp break with Rogers’ old work, with a new, tighter, cleaner sound that proves the guy in KMP had a lot more going for him than just a bear costume or Mad Hatter outfit or whatever. (If you ever saw Kill Miss Pretty, you understand.)
Anyway, I give Rumoura three eggs out of five.
A New Way to Live Forever will perform Saturday, Aug. 25, at the 25th Anniversary Block Party of Respectable Street, 518 Clematis St., in West Palm Beach. Admission is free and bar is open 8 to 9 p.m. The anniversary event takes place 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. and will be headlined by The Misfits. Other bands set to perform include Ordinary Boys, Ribbon Dancer, The Wrong, Band in Heaven, Symbols, Darling Sweets, Leading the Heroes, Ferocious Stones, Old Habit, Sweet Chariots, Luna Rex, The Hard Richards, Raggy Monster, In Boxes, Fall of Olympus, The Riot Act, Lavola, Howling Winds, and Retrocities.
